Tom Jenks - *

Tom Jenks’ second collection is an open system interaction with the world and all its contingencies. Using fragments from mass media, signage, management doublethink and myriad other sources, the work slips between inner and outer worlds as they suggest themselves, with the * symbol acting as a wildcard to select everything that is the case.

Openned Zine #1

The Openned Zine is setting out with one intention: to provide poets, publishers and organisers with a space to publicly present explanations, thoughts, ideas and opinions that may not necessarily be representative of a final response.

The intention is to draw attention to how poetry and the thoughts and activities based on and around it are an ongoing and necessarily ever-changing set of boundaries and equivalent freedoms, which provide a shifting map of communities of poets.

Now available to view in Online > ePubs, featuring:

The Other Room, 05/08/09 (AAC, 35min, 8MB) The Other Room, the Manchester reading series run by Tom Jenks, James Davies and Scott Thurston, took place last night, featuring Sean Bonney and Frances Kruk. You can listen and/or download a recording of the entire first half above. Please note the actual reading starts about five minutes into the recording. You can also read a review of the evening by Matt Dalby, and see some photos by Tony Trehy and Richard Barrett (Richard also has some words coming soon). The Other Room, 01/04/09 (AAC, 17min, 7MB) A recording of the latter part of the second half of The Other Room reading featuring Phil Davenport and Lisa Samuels, which took place in the Old Abbey Inn, Manchester on Wednesday 1st April 2009. Unfortunately I was unable to catch any of Tim Atkins' reading due to the lacklustre recording equipment available to me at the time. Openned Issues (2006 & 2007)

edited by Stephen Willey, Alex Davies Published: Oct 08 Publisher: Openned Press Format: PDF Price: £free View free: PDF (6.5MB)

The Openned issue is a digital magazine series based on your work interacting with a concept, theme, object - anything we feel will inspire dialogue amongst poets. Every issue will last for three months in a state of flux, constantly added to and modified, accommodating work that falls under the brief, or work written in response to other poets.
Between 2006 and 2007, we created three of these issues for Openned.com. With revisions to the site and limitations of space and time, they were temporarily removed. Now the poetry has been collected and is sited in this publication. Poets featured in this publication:
  • Brooklyn Copeland
  • Alex Davies
  • James Davies
  • Trini Decombe
  • Nikki Dudley
  • Amy Evans
  • Kai Fierle-Hedrick
  • Allen Fisher
  • Hacked By Krishna
  • James Harvey
  • Morton Hurley
  • Tom Jenks
  • Ross Kern
  • Jow Lindsay
  • Marianne Morris
  • Andrew Nightingale
  • Chris Paul
  • Spencer Selby
  • Hannah Silva
  • Anna Ticehurst

The Openned Issues is completely free, in PDF format.
