[wpvideo Wz9YbhsR] Harry Gilonis read from an ongoing project, NORTH HILLS, including a piece dedicated to Sean Bonney based on an original by Li Ho (李賀; 790–816 AD). 'He's often called the Baudelaire of Chinese verse [and] ...was writing wild drunken extravanganzas 250 years before the Battle of Hastings.' The piece dedicated to Frances Kruk is based on an original by Li Ch'ing-chao (李清照; 1084–c. 1151 AD). 'She is probably the most famous Chinese woman poet; a famously rich connoisseuse of fine art, calligraphy, etc. The original poem is in a mode based on the metrical form of a then-popular song; unsurprisingly the tune is no longer extant.' Examples of the NORTH HILLS project have been published in 'veer off' (Veer Books, 2008).
